Over 60 dating: more time, better stories

The diary’s freer, the stories are better and you know exactly what you like. Call it over 60 dating, as they do in America and Canada, or over 60s dating, as they do in Britain and Australia — either way, it’s your turn.

Membership prices are listed openly on our prices page.

A word from us

Of course you want company. Who doesn’t?

Good conversation, a bit of fun, someone who makes a Tuesday feel like a Saturday — and, if it comes, something more. Sixty-something is a fine age to want all of that. You’ve finally got the time. Spend it on someone worth it.

Dating after 60 looks different for everyone

Newly retired

After forty years of alarms, the diary’s yours. Put someone interesting in it.

Widowed

Wanting company doesn’t mean you loved them any less. No timetable, no wrong feeling. Mention them as much or as little as feels true.

Divorced in your sixties

A late divorce turns everything over: the house, the friends, the routines. Start fresh, on your terms — friendship first, if you like. It often leads somewhere good.

Busy with grandchildren

School runs on Tuesdays, sleepovers at the weekend. Say so. Plenty of people your age keep the same diary, and they’ll plan around it.

Ready for some romance

Not just a lunch companion — someone who makes you check your hair before you head out. Perfectly allowed.

Moved house, or moved away

Downsized, or moved nearer family? Dating is a great way to find your feet — a walking partner, a theatre date, someone who knows the good café.

How it works

Dating after 60: where to begin

1

Have a good look first

Read a few profiles before you write yours. You’ll soon spot what makes you smile — and why.

2

One hello a day

Mention something real from their profile: “You walk the coast path too? Which stretch?” Specific questions get replies.

3

Lunch first, dinner later

A long lunch somewhere you like makes a perfect first date. Candlelight can wait for the second.

Your profile

What to write when you’re over 60

You’ve got more to say than most people half your age. The trick is choosing two or three things, not all of them.

Say what you do with your days

"Retired" tells people very little. "Retired joiner, now building far too many bird boxes" tells them who you are, and gives them something to ask about.

Widowed? One line is enough

“Married to a wonderful man for 38 years; lost him in 2022” is honest, and it’s plenty. The rest can wait until you’ve met.

Grandchildren: yes, but not the whole profile

Mention them with pride. Then talk about you — that’s who they’ll be having coffee with.

A photo someone else took

Outside, in daylight, with a real smile. Wear what you’d wear on a good day out.

Our money rule

Never send money to anyone you meet online. Whatever the story.

Real interest wants your company, not your savings. Anyone who asks for money, gift cards or help “moving” funds doesn’t get another reply.

Questions about dating after 60

Over 60 dating FAQ

Is it “over 60 dating” or “over 60s dating”?

Both. In the US and Canada people tend to say “over 60”, while in the UK and Australia it’s usually “over 60s”. Same thing, same welcome.

Is sixty-something too late to start?

Not remotely. You know what you like, and you’ve finally got the time to find it.

Is it wrong to date after losing my husband or wife?

There’s no rule, and nobody else sets your timing. Some people feel ready after a year, others after ten. Wanting company is a sign of life, not of forgetting.

What if my family doesn’t approve?

Hear them out — it’s usually about scams, which is fair. Show them our money rule. Then remember whose life it is.

How much does it cost?

All VIP membership prices are listed openly on our prices page, with a plain note on which ones renew.
